High-tech hassle
COMPLAINT: Ira West, Provo, Utah
"I hired Cultivate Landscape to landscape my front and back yards, plus add a new sprinkler and drip-watering system. Although they're highly knowledgeable about landscaping and sprinklers, they took on too much work with too few laborers to produce a satisfactory product. There were so many delays and such poor workmanship that, overall, it was a frustrating experience.
"The worst thing was I purchased a high-tech add-on to the sprinkler system for an extra $800. It's supposed to account for soil conditions, plant types and weather, and automatically water lawns and shrubs without a timer. The device never worked properly. I notified Cultivate of its failure to perform. They kept promising to fix it, and said if I wanted to return it, they would gladly refund my money. They never did fix it and, after repeated complaints, they stopped answering the phone."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want Cultivate Landscape to remove the high-tech sprinkler accessory and refund the $800 I paid for it."

Concrete breakup
COMPLAINT: Ying Han, Salt Lake City
"Motherland Concrete removed existing green carpet and poured a new layer of concrete on a front porch and back patio. They acid stained the back patio and sealed both the porch and the patio. They removed the carpet only and left much of the glue in place. The concrete on the back patio broke up after one month.
"I asked them to redo the back patio. They removed the new concrete and the glue. Then they put on a new layer of concrete, which is very thin. I didn't want them to acid stain and seal the patio. They haven't returned the $300, which is the cost of the acid staining and sealing. Also, they broke my screen door. Motherland took it to repair, but have yet to give it back. They kept giving me excuses and then stopped answering my phone calls."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want the $300 and my door back."
