Minneapolis bathroom remodeling project astounds visitors

Published on November 1, 2009

Description of remodeling work: "I had Mike Otto convert three rooms in my house into an extraordinary spa-bathroom," Matthew Gress says.

"This place has everything: a spa bathtub, a four-head steam shower with waterfall and body jets, granite surfaces, tiled floors (heated), a bidet/washlet and the best sound system in the house built into the walls and ceiling."

Getting "the largest corner hot tub that we could find" into Gress' second-floor spa bathroom was not an easy task. "It wouldn't fit past the stairs," Gress says.

The construction crew took the bottom out of a window and removed a radiator to squeeze it into the room.

"We had to lift it up to the second floor from my back deck to get it in there."

Member comments: "Absolutely everyone that sees this place is astounded."

"There's a custom stereo system with surround sound, a video projector on the ceiling and a futon with 40 pillows.

"People just hang out in there. I asked Mike Otto to do a lot of weird things and he didn't even blink."
