Angie's List gears up to rate classic and custom cars

Car enthusiasts are everywhere — even at Angie's List.

"I've wanted to own a classic sports car for a long time," explains founder Angie Hicks.

In order to share that passion, she's started a division dedicated entirely to the restoration and service of both classic and custom autos.

"We're going to do what we do best and gather that great consumer experience at a site where car buffs can easily find just the person they need," Hicks says.

Angie's List is seeking your help to build the database of ratings. Later this year, members will be able to find reviews on the perfect shop or mechanic anywhere in the country.

Keeping up with the regular maintenance of a classic or custom car can be challenging. Angie's List member Bob Mohr of Fayetteville, Ark., says he's run into issues with shops when it came to his 1965 Chrysler Imperial and 1981 Shay Ford Model A, a replica anniversary model of the 1929 Roadster.

"I've had problems with careless mechanics who got oil on the upholstery and dinged the front fender," he says. "I've also seen mechanics who didn't know how to tune the engine properly since there was no electronic gadget."
