• Think like a burglar: Walk around your property with a friend or neighbor (who might spot things you’ll overlook) and identify the best locations for a break-in.
• Don’t close all your drapes when you’re out; it’s a sign that nobody’s home, and allows thieves to move about your house unseen.
• Keep your shrubs trimmed. Large bushes can provide cover to an incoming burglar.
• Buy a large intimidating dog that barks a lot.
